The 36th running of the Irish Oaks was held on Wednesday 23rd July 1930 over 1 1/2 miles of The Curragh, starting at the Howth Post. A pot of 2500 sovereigns was availble, 150 sovereigns to the second and 75 sovereigns to the third. The winner was owned by HH Aga Khan, trained by R Dawson at Whatcombe, and ridden by Michael Beary. The winner won by a short head in 2 minute 42.4 seconds, with 4 lengths between second and third.

RACE REPORT

The field were let loose at 3.29, four minutes after the official start time, and it was Star of Egypt and Dona Bari who made the early running. This order was maintained until rounding the turn into the straight where South Sea Bubble, St Breda and Theresina all made rapid progress. Entering the final furlong Theresina and South Sea Bubble began to go clear, with the former winning by a short head. There was a 4 length gap back to St Breda in third.
